Choreography
The Common Family
By Andrio Jordan Fong (2021)
“Violence within children isn’t created. Rather, it trickles.”
All photos of The Common Family were taken by Ryan Kwok.
Drawing on years of study, I am able to create choreography that is unique and intricate to the aesthetic quality I have developed. My choreography is clean, sharp, and detailed. I engage my choreography with different important topics that interest me such as social structure, power dynamics, and the human condition.
The Common Family is a tragic tale that tells the story of a family that follows the system of two parents, the eldest, the middle, the rivals, and the youngest. They all follow their roles of power, yet why do they still fail?
As the cycle of violence and neglect proceeds, comes a toxic household filled with anger, resent, and regret. This piece challenges generational trauma to showcase the audience how the cycle will keep continuing.
The Order of Fallen Angels
By Andrio Jordan Fong (2022)
This piece was a high-energy exploration of movement that focused on religious power and corruption. Another dark topic, instead contrasted with fun and high-intensity play filled with sass, flirtatiousness, and camp. This piece also took inspiration of many figures of fashion, and explored movement found in runways and cover shoots.
